Regular Season Round 5: Blackwater - Alaska Aces 111-106

Bottom-ranked Alaska Aces (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 111-106 loss to eighth ranked Blackwater (3-3) in Caloocan City. Blackwater outrebounded Alaska Aces 78-56 including a 54-42 advantage in defensive rebounds. 30 personal fouls committed by Alaska Aces helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Henry Walker (198-87, college: Kansas St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 32 rebounds for the winning side and power forward John-Paul Erram (203-89) accounted for 13 points and 13 rebounds. Forward LaDontae Henton (198-92, college: Providence) came up with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and point guard Jayvee Casio (178-86) added 25 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Alaska Aces in the defeat. Four Blackwater and five Alaska Aces players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Blackwater have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 3-3 record. Alaska Aces at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Blackwater's next round opponent will be higher ranked TNT Ka Tropa (#7) in Makati and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alaska Aces will play at home against SM Beermen (#6) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
