The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Shaanxi W. as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Henan) loss. Shaanxi W. smashed 11th ranked Beijing in Xian 121-79. It looked good early as Beijing took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Shaanxi W. had a 37-13 second period charge getting the lead and Beijing was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-121. Shaanxi W. made 23-of-24 charity shots (95.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Beijing 43-26 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) notched 29 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and the other American import forward Troy Gillenwater (205-88, college: N.Mexico St.) supported him with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Shaanxi W.'s coach ZhengXiu Jiang felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 25 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) by forward JunXiong Zhang (204-85) did not help to save the game for Beijing. Wei Zheng added 18 points for the guests. Five Shaanxi W. and four Beijing players scored in double figures. Shaanxi W. (21-5) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Henan. Beijing lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 18 games lost.
