Regular Season Round 4: Paulistano - L.Sorocaba 89-68

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Liga Sorocaba (3-3) against fifth ranked Paulistano (2-3) on Wednesday night. Visiting Liga Sorocaba was crushed by Paulistano in Sao Paolo 89-68. The game was mostly controlled by Paulistano. Liga Sorocaba was better in second period 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Liga Sorocaba 50-28 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Paulistano players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Yago Dos-Santos (178-99) who helped to win the game recording 32 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international Jhonatan Luz-dos-Santos (196-87) who added 20 points during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Dontrell Brite (175, college: Mount Olive) responded with 25 points and his fellow American import guard Anton Cook (188-95, college: SE Oklahoma) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Paulistano maintains fifth position with 2-3 record, which they share with Bauru. Liga Sorocaba at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Paulistano will play against bottom-ranked Osasco B. (#8) at home in the next round. Liga Sorocaba will play against Pinheiros (#3) in Sao Paolo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
