Regular Season Round 5: TNT Ka Tropa - Phoenix 110-103

There was no surprise in Makati where 9th ranked Phoenix (2-5) was defeated by seventh ranked TNT Ka Tropa (3-2) 110-103 on Friday. TNT Ka Tropa made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. Phoenix was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American swingman Glen Rice-Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 38 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Ranidel deOcampo (197-81) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) produced a double-double by scoring 49 points (!!!), 19 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and naturalized Canadian guard Matthew Wright (193-91, college: St.Bonaventure) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. TNT Ka Tropa moved-up to sixth place, which they share with SM Beermen. Phoenix lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. TNT Ka Tropa will face Blackwater (#8) in Caloocan City in the next round. Phoenix will play on the road against B.Ginebra in Manila and hope to win that game.
