Regular Season Round 11: Importadora - Juvenil 83-64

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Juvenil (6-5) against sixth ranked Importadora (6-5) on Friday night. Visiting Juvenil was crushed by Importadora in Ambato 83-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Juvenil. The game was mostly controlled by Importadora. Juvenil was better in second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Importadora dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Juvenil's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Juvenil's players. It was a great evening for American forward Tavares Sledge (203-92, college: USC Aiken, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import swingman Jerel Blocker (193-88, college: Lee) helped adding 23 points and 5 rebounds. Four Importadora players scored in double figures. Venezuelan guard Jovanni Diaz (195-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and Venezuelan Nelson Palacios (192-92) scored 21 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Importadora moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Juvenil and Leones. Importadora will play against league's second-placed Piratas in Ibarra in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Juvenil will play at home against the league's leader Iccan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
