Regular Season Round 12: Piratas - Importadora 77-76

The most exciting game of round 12 in the National League took place in Ibarra. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Importadora (6-6) to second ranked Piratas (8-4) 77-76 on Tuesday evening. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-76. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican-Venezuelan swingman Rafael Perez (193-82, agency: Paris Global Sports) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and American forward Willie Clayton (203-92, college: Georgia St.) who added 15 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American swingman Jerel Blocker (193-88, college: Lee) with 26 points and 4 assists and international point guard Christian Orozco (182-94) scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Importadora players scored in double figures. Piratas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-4 record behind leader Iccan. Importadora at the other side dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with Juvenil. Piratas are looking forward to face league's leader Iccan in Guayaquil in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Importadora will play on the road against Barcelona (#3) in Guayaquil and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
