Regular Season Round 12: Leones - Triple E-Uda 79-48

Bottom-ranked Triple E-Uda (0-12) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 12th consecutive match to fifth ranked Leones (7-5) 79-48 on Tuesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Leones. Triple E-Uda managed to win fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Triple E-Uda to just 5 points in second quarter. Leones shot 61.1 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Leones especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan center Javinger Vargas (202-90) who scored 21 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Dominican point guard Jose Acosta (185-92) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Leones players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan power forward Jean Pierre (205-91) who recorded 17 points and Venezuelan Yolvier Romero (-95) added 4 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Leones moved-up to fourth place. Triple E-Uda at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Leones will meet at home Portoviejo (#7) in the next round. Triple E-Uda will play against Juvenil and hopes to get finally their first victory.
