Regular Season Round 6: Blackwater - KIA Picanto 118-97
Date: September 1, 2017
Bottom-ranked KIA Picanto is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to eighth ranked Blackwater (4-4) 118-97 on Friday evening. Blackwater forced 19 KIA Picanto turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American swingman Henry Walker (198-87, college: Kansas St.) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and power forward John-Paul Erram (203-89) supported him with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Even 28 points and 6 assists by American-Lebanese guard Geron Johnson (190-92, college: Memphis) did not help to save the game for KIA Picanto. Forward Jackson Corpuz (193) added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Blackwater moved-up to seventh place. KIA Picanto at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Blackwater will meet league's leader B.Ginebra in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. KIA Picanto will play against Alaska Aces (#11) in Makati and hopes to get finally their first victory.
