Regular Season Round 6: Star Hotshots - B.Ginebra 101-105

The game in Pasig City was also worth to mention about. Second ranked B.Ginebra (6-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Star Hotshots (4-2). B.Ginebra managed to secure a 4-point victory 105-101. B.Ginebra players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. 30 personal fouls committed by Star Hotshots helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Justin Brownlee (197-88, college: St.John's) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized American center Joe Devance (201-82, college: UTEP) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Malcolm Hill (198-95, college: Illinois, agency: Pensack Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and guard Paul Lee (185-89) added 22 points respectively. Four B.Ginebra and five Star Hotshots players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. B.Ginebra have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Star Hotshots at the other side keep the fifth place with two games lost. B.Ginebra's next round opponent will be Blackwater (#7) in Caloocan City where they are favorite. Star Hotshots will play on the road against Meralco Bolts in Manila and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
