Regular Season Round 3: Bantrab - Villa Nueva 59-65

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Bantrab (2-1) in Guatemala on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by Villa Nueva (3-0) 65-59. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 17-6. But Bantrab won third quarter 20-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villa Nueva dominated on the defensive end, holding Bantrab to just 6 points in first quarter. It was a good game for the former international forward Enrique Samayoa (193-82) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized American guard David Goddard (185-89) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Vinicio Furlon answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and Javier Morgon added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Bantrab. Villa Nueva is looking forward to face ELOHIM in Chimaltenango in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bantrab will play at home against Amatitlan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
