Regular Season Round 1: Al-Ahli - Al-Hala 80-82

Another exciting game for Al-Hala (1-0) which played in Manama against Al-Ahli (0-1). Al-Hala upset home team edging them after exciting game by two points 82-80. Al-Ahli was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Al-Hala made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Al-Ahli was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Lebanese center Loren Woods (218-78, college: Arizona) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and Hasan Gerashi chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American forward Quinton Doggett (206-90, college: Southern) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and Hussain Shaker scored 20 points and 5 assists. Four Al-Ahli players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Al-Hala will play against Samaheej (#13) in Manama in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Al-Ahli will play at home against Hidd (#11) to get more than just one victory in their record.
