Regular Season Round 7: Globalport - Alaska Aces 88-101

There was a small surprise in Pasig where eleventh ranked Alaska Aces (3-6) defeated 9th ranked Globalport (2-5) 101-88. Alaska Aces made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Globalport turnovers and outrebounded them 57-43 including 23 on the offensive glass. Alaska Aces players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Globalport helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for American forward LaDontae Henton (198-92, college: Providence) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Point guard Jayvee Casio (178-86) contributed with 11 points and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) answered with 25 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized American forward Sean Anthony (193-86) added 19 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Globalport. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Alaska Aces. They moved-up to ninth place. Globalport at the other side dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Alaska Aces' next round opponent will be higher ranked Meralco Bolts (#3) in Manila and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Globalport will play on the road against Star Hotshots (#7) in Pasig City and hope to win that game.
