Regular Season Round 6: L.Sorocaba - Pinheiros 89-54
Date: September 9, 2017
The game in Sorocabana supposed to be also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Pinheiros (5-4) played at the court of sixth ranked Liga Sorocaba (4-4). Liga Sorocaba smashed Pinheiros 89-54. The game without a history. Liga Sorocaba led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Pinheiros' players. American guard Anton Cook (188-95, college: SE Oklahoma) notched 21 points to lead the effort and forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Liga Sorocaba players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) by forward Arthur Bernardi (206-90, college: Houston Baptist) did not help to save the game for Pinheiros. The former international forward Marcus-Vinicius Toledo (201-86) added 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Liga Sorocaba moved-up to fifth place. Pinheiros at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Liga Sorocaba's next round opponent will be Paschoalotto/Bauru (#6) at home. Pinheiros will play against America in Rio Preto and hope to win that game.
