Regular Season Round 2: Melsele - Houthalen 92-83

Melsele used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Houthalen 92-83 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Houthalen won fourth quarter 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Houthalen 42-29 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Ivan Perez (185-90) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Thomas Lamot (190-87) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Melsele players scored in double figures. Forward Bart Maesen (198-89) produced 30 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and point guard Chiel Koonings (180-90) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Houthalen's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Melsele will face Giants B (#9) in Antwerp in the next round where they are favorite. Houthalen will play on the road against Ninane (#5) and hope to win that game.
