Regular Season Round 8: Star Hotshots - Globalport 109-83
Date: September 15, 2017
Rather expected game in Pasig City where 10th ranked Globalport (2-7) was rolled over by seventh ranked Star Hotshots (5-4) 109-83. Star Hotshots dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Globalport's 48. Star Hotshots forced 19 Globalport turnovers. The winners were led by American guard Malcolm Hill (198-95, college: Illinois, agency: Pensack Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 32 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and power forward Ian-Paul Sangalang (201-91) supported him with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 20 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks by American forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) did not help to save the game for Globalport. Naturalized American forward Sean Anthony (193-86) added 12 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Five Globalport players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Star Hotshots maintains seventh position with 5-4 record. Globalport lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with seven games lost. Star Hotshots' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked KIA Picanto (#12) in Makati City where they are favorite. Globalport will play on the road against the league's second-placed Meralco Bolts and will have a slim chance for a victory.
