Regular Season Round 8: Rain or Shine - B.Ginebra 82-89

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Manila: B.Ginebra (#2) and Rain or Shine (#5). Rain or Shine was defeated at home 82-89 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. B.Ginebra dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Rain or Shine's 34. B.Ginebra forced 19 Rain or Shine turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Justin Brownlee (197-88, college: St.John's) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. Center Greg Slaughter (216-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four B.Ginebra players scored in double figures. American forward JNathan Bullock (196-87, college: Cleveland St., agency: SDJ Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and center Raymond Almazan (206-89) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Rain or Shine's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. B.Ginebra (8-2) keeps a position of league leader. Rain or Shine at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. B.Ginebra are looking forward to face TNT Ka Tropa (#3) in Makati in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Rain or Shine will play on the road against Alaska Aces in Makati and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
