Regular Season Round 8: Globalport - Blackwater 107-118
Date: September 17, 2017
No shocking result in a game in Pasig where eighth ranked Blackwater (5-5) defeated 10th ranked Globalport (2-7) 118-107. Strangely Globalport outrebounded Blackwater 52-35 including a 21-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Blackwater brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by American swingman Henry Walker (198-87, college: Kansas St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 blocks and forward Allein Maliksi (190-87) supported him with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Five Blackwater players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 28 points and 23 rebounds by American forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) did not help to save the game for Globalport. Naturalized American point guard Stanley Pringle (184-87, college: Penn St., agency: Pensack Sports) added 27 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Blackwater maintains eighth position with 5-5 record. Globalport lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with seven games lost. Blackwater's next round opponent will be higher ranked Rain or Shine (#6) in Manila and it may be quite challenging game. Globalport will play on the road against the league's second-placed Meralco Bolts (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
