Regular Season Round 3: Spirou B - Soba 83-89

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Spirou B (2-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Soba (3-0) 89-83. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-19. But Spirou B won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Soba looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for swingman Mitchel Gorremans (191-85) who led his team to a victory with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Point guard Anthony Goetgeluck (182-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Cuban point guard Sigfredo Casero-Ortiz (185-97) answered with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Slovakian center Michal Fusek (224-95, agency: Octagon Europe) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Spirou B. Five Soba and four Spirou B players scored in double figures. Soba is looking forward to face Giants B (#12) in Antwerp in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Spirou B will play at home against Houthalen (#14) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
