Regular Season Round 8: Franca - L.Sorocaba 89-71

Paulista top team - Vivo/Franca (10-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat sixth ranked Liga Sorocaba (4-7) in Sao Paulo 89-71. It looked good early as Liga Sorocaba took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Vivo/Franca had a 22-13 second period charge getting the lead and Liga Sorocaba was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-89. Vivo/Franca players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Liga Sorocaba's players. The winners were led by Pedro Lima (191-87) who scored that evening 20 points and 4 assists and international point guard Henrique Coelho (183-93) supported him with 12 points and 7 assists. Vivo/Franca's coach Helinho Garcia used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 15 points and 4 assists by American point guard Dontrell Brite (175, college: Mount Olive) did not help to save the game for Liga Sorocaba. Forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Four Vivo/Franca and five Liga Sorocaba players scored in double figures. Vivo/Franca have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-2 record. Liga Sorocaba lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Vivo/Franca will play against Paulistano (#3) in Sao Paolo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Liga Sorocaba will play at home against Paulistano and hopes to get back on the winning track.
