A very interesting game took place in Kouvola. It ended with only two-point home defeat of Kouvot (1-1) to Helsinki Seagulls (2-0) 86-84 on Wednesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Helsinki Seagulls made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. International Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St., agency: SDJ Sports) accounted for 18 points. Five Helsinki Seagulls players scored in double figures. American forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and the former international Ville Kaunisto (204-82, agency: Court Side) added 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Kouvot in the defeat. Helsinki Seagulls' next round opponent will be Kauhajoki (#3) on the road, which may be the game of the day. Kouvot will play against Salon Vilpas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
