Salon Vilpas used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Kotka 75-70 on Wednesday night. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Salon Vilpas made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. American forward Aaron Jones (206-93, college: Mississippi) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80) chipped in 13 points and 9 assists. Five Salon Vilpas players scored in double figures. American center Kenneth Simms (206-86, college: Cumberland) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import swingman Jermont Horton (198-84, college: Rutgers-Newark) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Salon Vilpas will face Kouvot (#5) in Kouvola in the next round. KTP-Basket will play on the road against Joensuun Kataja (#8) and hope to win that game.
