Tokyo Excel. (1-1) recorded a loss at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Saitama Broncos (1-1) 90-84. Saitama Broncos looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Senegalese forward Ibrahima Thomas (213-87, college: Cincinnati) nailed 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Nishi Yutaro (176-92) accounted for 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. American Justin Herold (203-91, college: Sonoma St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Tokyo Excel. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Saitama Broncos will meet at home Otsuka A. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tokyo Excel. will play against Kagoshima in Renova and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the B2 League just one year after relegation.
