Regular Season Round 2: Guaros 2 - Atleticos 94-90

Rather expected game in Barquisimeto where Atleticos (0-4) were defeated by Guaros 2 (2-0) 94-90 on Friday. Guaros 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Atleticos' 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Atleticos' players. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Jose Vargas (195-82, agency: Pro Sports) who scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-95) chipped in 26 points and 4 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Miguel Blanco produced 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Jean Almeida (186-94) added 14 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Atleticos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Guaros 2 will meet at home Comuna in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Atleticos will play against Aduaneros (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
