Regular Season Round 3: DCU Saints - Belfast Star 65-85

Belfast Star (3-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed DCU Saints (1-2) in Dublin 85-65. Belfast Star dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to DCU Saints' 42. Belfast Star forced 21 DCU Saints turnovers. Strangely DCU Saints outrebounded Belfast Star 61-36 including a 30-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for American guard Ryan Oliver (196, college: Siena) who led the winners and scored 18 points. International guard Conor Quinn (185-95, college: Mayville St.) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Four Belfast Star players scored in double figures. American center Dee Proby (208-88, college: Oklahoma City) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 23 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Martins Provizors (202-87) added 6 points and 10 rebounds respectively for DCU Saints in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Belfast Star will meet Swords Thunder (#5) in the next round. DCU Saints' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Dublin to the arena Eanna.
