Regular Season Round 2: Etzella - Racing 69-77

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Etzella (1-1) in Ettelbruck. Hosts were defeated by Racing (2-0) 77-69. Strangely Etzella outrebounded Racing 47-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. American forward Eric McAlister (204-90, college: Stony Brook) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import swingman Scott Morton (195-87, college: Geneseo St.) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Racing's coach Etienne Louvrier allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Canadian power forward Billy McNutt (203-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds and Frederic Gutenkauf (185-92) added 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Etzella. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Racing's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Luxembourg Contern.
