Regular Season Round 1: Valencia - Adelantados 64-56

Valencia used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from San Cristobal 64-56 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Adelantados won third quarter 17-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quite impressive performance for Brazilian forward Isabela Ramona Lyra (180-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Portuguese guard Maria Bettencourt Correia (173-91, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Valencia's coach Ruben Burgos used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Caira Washington (188-95, college: G.Washington) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import forward Korinne Campbell (184-88, college: W.Virginia) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Adelantados. Valencia will face Alcobendas (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Adelantados will play against Leganes and hope to win that game.
