Bertram Tortona used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Reggio Calabria 80-72 on Saturday night. Viola RC was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuanian Paulius Sorokas (202-92, agency: Players Group) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Marco Spanghero (186-91) chipped in 24 points. Bertram Tortona's coach Lorenzo Pansa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American guard Chris Roberts (193-88, college: Bradley) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and the other American import forward A.J. Pacher (208-92, college: Wright St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Bertram Tortona will face Remer Treviglio (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Viola RC will play against Virtus Roma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
