Regular Season Round 1: Sendai 89ers - Toyotsu FE 62-84

The game in Sendai supposed to be also quite interesting. Toyotsu FE (2-0) played at the court of Sendai 89ers (0-2). Toyotsu FE smashed Sendai 89ers 84-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyotsu FE. Sendai 89ers was better in second period 21-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sendai 89ers to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Sendai 89ers 48-37 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: Washington St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Herbert Hill (208-84, college: Providence) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Toyotsu FE players scored in double figures. Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Sendai 89ers' coach Toshihiro Goto gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Toyotsu FE will have a break next round. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against Toyotsu FE (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
