Regular Season Round 1: Faenza - Alghero 75-51

The most important game of round 1 took place in Faenza of A2 where Faenza crushed Alghero (0-1) 75-51 on Saturday night. Faenza forced 22 Alghero turnovers and outrebounded them 34-22 including 22 on the defensive glass. Center Serena Soglia (186-0) stepped up and scored 13 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners and forward Lucia Morsiani (186-92) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Faenza players scored in double figures. Faenza's coach Cristina Bassi felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Arianna Beretta (178-96, agency: SPORTlab Agency) responded with 18 points and point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) scored 13 points. Alghero will play next round against RR Retail Galli trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Faenza will try to continue on its current victory against Palermo on the road.
