Regular Season Round 1: NPC Rieti - Givova Scafati 79-72

NPC Rieti used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Scafati 79-72 on Sunday night. Strangely Givova Scafati outrebounded NPC Rieti 46-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. American-Nigerian guard Zaid Hearst (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and guard Claudio Tommasini (197-91) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. At the losing side American power forward Brandon Sherrod (198-92, college: Yale) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import point guard Anthony Miles (185-89, college: Lamar) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. NPC Rieti will face Latina Basket (#12) on the road in the next round. Givova Scafati will play against Cagliari Academy and hope to win that game.
