The game in Las Palmas was also quite interesting. Gipuzkoa (0-1) played at the court of Gran Canaria (1-0). Gran Canaria managed to secure a 8-point victory 84-76 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gipuzkoa won third quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gran Canaria looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Albert Oliver (187-78) nailed 17 points for the winning side and Swedish swingman Marcus Eriksson (201-93) accounted for 10 points and 5 rebounds. Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Gipuzkoa in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gran Canaria will meet Zaragoza (#18) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gipuzkoa will play against Real Betis (#15) and hope to win that game.
