The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of HyPo (0-1) in Hyvinkaa on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Peli-Karhut (1-0) 91-49. Peli-Karhut outrebounded HyPo 43-24 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Akilah Sims (178-94, college: IUPUI) fired a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds for the winners. Her fellow American import forward Megan Mullings (185-92, college: Alaska-Anch.) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. The former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Candice Warthen (165-92, college: Arizona) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Peli-Karhut is looking forward to face Kouvottaret (#10) in Kouvola in the next round and are hoping to win another game. HyPo will play on the road against Forssan Alku (#1) and is hoping to win this game.
