Regular Season Round 2: Sendai 89ers - Toyotsu FE 72-77

Not a big story in a game when Sendai 89ers (0-2) were defeated at home by Toyotsu FE (2-0) 77-72 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 23-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Herbert Hill (208-84, college: Providence) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: Washington St.) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Toyotsu FE will face Orange Vikings (#3) in Matsuyama in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sendai 89ers will play on the road against Kanazawa Sam. in Ishikawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
