Regular Season Round 6: ELOHIM - Tencored 96-67

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked ELOHIM as it allowed them to take a leadership position. ELOHIM smashed 7th ranked Tencored in Chimaltenango 96-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tencored. The game was mostly controlled by ELOHIM. Tencored managed to win second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tencored 48-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. ELOHIM looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Tencored's players. It was a good game for David Monterroso who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Bernie Diaz (200-81) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. ELOHIM's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Erick Palma replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Eustorgio Sopalda (-81) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Tencored. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ELOHIM (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with USAC. Tencored at the other side keeps the seventh place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
