An interesting game for Helsinki Seagulls (3-0) which played road game in Kauhajoki against Kauhajoki (1-1). Helsinki Seagulls had an easy win 98-77. Strangely Kauhajoki outrebounded Helsinki Seagulls 101-88 including 39 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 60.7 percentage. Helsinki Seagulls players were unselfish on offense dishing 39 assists. Kauhajoki was plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Antti Kanervo (192-89, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Kayel Locke (196-94, college: NC-Greensboro) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Helsinki Seagulls' coach Mikko Larkas felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Flenard Whitfield (201-90, college: W.Michigan) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Bosnian guard Bojan Sarcevic (190-88) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Helsinki Seagulls will play against Joensuun Kataja (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kauhajoki will play against Salon Vilpas to get more than just one victory in their record.
