The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Helsinki Seagulls (3-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Joensuun Kataja (2-0) 90-80. Joensuun Kataja dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Helsinki Seagulls' 34. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for swingman Wesley Saunders (196-93, college: Harvard) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Inception Sports) helped adding 18 points. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St., agency: SDJ Sports) with 21 points and point guard Derek Jackson (185-91, college: Kent St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored 10 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja is looking forward to face Salon Vilpas (#4) at home in the next round. Helsinki Seagulls will play against Espoo United and is hoping to win this game.
