Fjolnir used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Akranes 86-79 on Friday night. Forward Sigvaldi Eggertsson (197-0) nailed 31 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and American forward Tony Freeland (203-91, college: CS San Marcos) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Derek Shouse (188-93, college: Mo.-St.Louis) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Fannar Helgason (202-84) added 7 points and 8 rebounds respectively for IA in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fjolnir will meet Skallagrimur (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. IA will play against Hamar (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
