Regular Season Round 2: Alcobendas - Valencia 73-69

There was a small surprise when Alcobendas (1-1) won against at home Valencia (1-1) 73-69 on Saturday. Valencia was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Alcobendas made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Alcobendas outrebounded Valencia 50-38 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American-U.S. Virgin Islands guard Imani Tate (173-95, college: Albany) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Sheila Mangada (172-85, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86, agency: ProDep Management) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Montenegrin guard Snezana Aleksic (173-89, agency: ProDep Management) added 15 points in the effort for Valencia. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Alcobendas will face Leganes (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Valencia will play against Olimpico 64 and hope to win that game.
