Regular Season Round 2: Kagoshima - Tokyo Excel. 84-85

The most exciting game of round 2 in the B League D3 took place in Renova. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of Kagoshima (0-4) to Tokyo Excel. (3-1) 85-84 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Kagoshima was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 10-point lead after three quarters before a 28-17 charge of Tokyo Excel., which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 21 Kagoshima turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Kagoshima helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Justin Herold (203-91, college: Sonoma St.) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American forward Chris Olivier (203-92, college: Oklahoma St.) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Hayate Yamashita (193-92) scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Kagoshima players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tokyo Excel.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Tokyo HT.
