Regular Season Round 2: Cambados - Albacete 76-78

A very close game took place in Cambados between Albacete and Cambados. Albacete (2-0) got a very close victory on the road over Cambados (0-2). Albacete managed to escape with a 2-point win 78-76 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-76. Strangely Cambados outrebounded Albacete 44-21 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cuban forward Georvys Elias (199-81) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Eugenio Gomez (197-89) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists during the contest. Albacete's coach Alfredo Galvez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. British forward Will Saunders (201-91, college: Charleston So.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and guard Samuel Barros (190-98) scored 15 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Albacete will meet at home Agustinos-Leclerc (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Cambados will play against Real Canoe (#16) in Madrid and hope to win that game.
