The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Lima-Horta (1-1) in Vilagarcia Arousa on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Cortegada (2-0) 75-49. The game without a history. Cortegada led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lima-Horta to just 6 points in third and fourth quarters. They outrebounded Lima-Horta 36-17 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Salome Garcia (175-92, agency: ProDep Management) notched 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Senegalese center Amy Syll (196-93, agency: ProDep Management) supported her with 16 points. Four Cortegada players scored in double figures. Even 12 points by Montse Pujolreu did not help to save the game for Lima-Horta. Point guard Elena Silva (173-92) added 6 points and 4 assists for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cortegada will meet GDKO Bizkaia (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lima-Horta will play against Ascensores Tresa (#12) and hope to win that game.
