Regular Season Round 4: Nagoya DD - Ryukyu GK 77-91

Everything could happen in Nagoya at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Ryukyu GK and much higher ranked Diamond Dolphins had identical 1-1 record. But Diamond Dolphins were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Okinawa 91-77 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Ryukyu GK. Diamond Dolphins was better in third quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Diamond Dolphins' players. It was a very good performance for international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 assists. American center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) added 18 points in the effort for Diamond Dolphins. Five Ryukyu GK and four Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ryukyu GK (2-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Diamond Dolphins dropped to the third place with two games lost. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round. Diamond Dolphins will play again at home against the league's second-placed Ryukyu GK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
