Regular Season Round 3: Gunma - Aomori Watts 96-75

Gunma used a home court advantage and outplayed the opponent from Aomori 96-75 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-75. Gunma looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and point guard Toshio Kan (184-94) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gunma will face again Aomori Watts (#5) at home in the next round.
