Regular Season Round 4: Swords Thunder - Belfast Star 65-58

The biggest surprise took place in Dublin where host Swords Thunder (3-1) beat league's leader Belfast Star (3-1) 65-58 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Belfast Star. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Swords Thunder dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Belfast Star's 32. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Swords Thunder made 9 blocks. American forward Justin Goldsborough (203, college: Lehigh) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Isaac Westbrooks (189-85) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists. International guard Conor Quinn (185-95, college: Mayville St.) produced 20 points and Clement Kulinicz added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Belfast Star's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Swords Thunder moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Belfast Star. Belfast Star will play next round against Killester trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Swords Thunder will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked KUBS in Greendale.
