There was a minor upset when Cantaires Tortosa (1-2) lost to Menorca (1-2) in Mahon 64-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Menorca. Cantaires Tortosa was better in third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Menorca made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Cantaires Tortosa was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Quim Salvans (187-98) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Andreu Matali (204-81) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Joel Kindred (193-91, college: St.Augustine) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Sean McDonnell (203, college: Westmont) added 15 points in the effort for Cantaires Tortosa. Cantaires Tortosa's coach Jaume Bouguarout let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
