AEK used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Trikala 91-72 on Saturday night. AEK outrebounded Aiolos Trikallon 40-28 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. AEK looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Aiolos Trikallon was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for naturalized Serbian Dusan Sakota (210-86, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds. Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four AEK players scored in double figures. American swingman Lamond Murray-Jr (196, college: Pepperdine) answered with 25 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and the other American import point guard Shawndre Jones (180-94, college: Richmond) added 13 points and 6 assists in the effort for Aiolos Trikallon. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. AEK will face Aris (#8) in Thessaloniki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aiolos Trikallon will play at home against Lavrio (#5) and hope to win that game.
