Regular Season Round 2: Magec Tias - Almeria 80-39

First defeat of Almeria (1-1) against Magec Tias (1-1) 80-39 was the most important game of the last round. The game was mostly controlled by Magec Tias. Almeria managed to win second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Almeria to just 5 points in third quarter and to 12 points in second half. Magec Tias dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Almeria's 26. Magec Tias forced 21 Almeria turnovers and outrebounded them 46-28 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Raby Oliveira orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) contributed with 9 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Magec Tias' coach Aday Villalba felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-86) replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and Bosnian center Samra Omerbasic (191-90, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Almeria. Almeria will play next round against strong Real Canoe trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Magec Tias will try to continue on its current victory against Gran Canaria. It will be extra interesting game as Gran Canaria is their local rival from Las Palmas.
