Regular Season Round 3: Hainaut - Villeneuve 75-89

Date: October 7, 2017
An interesting game took place in Saint-Amand where Hainaut (1-2) was upset on its own court by Villeneuve D'Ascq (1-0) 89-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Villeneuve D'Ascq. Hainaut was better in fourth quarter 25-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villeneuve D'Ascq made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for DR Congolese power forward Pauline Akonga Nsimbo (188-82, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Naturalized Senegalese forward Mame-Marie Sy-Diop (185-85) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian Egle Sulciute (190-85) with 12 points and American forward Ashley Bruner (183-91, college: S.Carolina, agency: Two Points) scored 12 points. Five Villeneuve D'Ascq and four Hainaut players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Villeneuve D'Ascq will face Nice (#10) at home in the next round. Hainaut will play against Tarbes and hope to win that game.
