Regular Season Round 2: Alghero - RR Retail Galli 46-93

Rather predictable result when RR Retail Galli (2-0) smashed on the road Alghero (0-2) 93-46 on Saturday. RR Retail Galli dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 28 and made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. RR Retail Galli had a 36-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. Alghero was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Federica Iannucci (172-93) scored 31 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Canadian Melissa Rondinelli (184-91) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Forward Diarra Sow (180-99) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Bulgarian forward Veronika Dzhikova (178-90) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. RR Retail Galli will face Savonese (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alghero will play against Campobasso and hope to win that game.
