Regular Season Round 4: Toyama Grouses - Nishinomiya S. 72-68

There was a minor upset when 4th ranked Nishinomiya S. (0-3) lost on the road to fourth ranked Toyama Grouses (2-1) 72-68 on Saturday. Nishinomiya S. trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 21-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-72 at the end of the game. Toyama Grouses forced 19 Nishinomiya S. turnovers. It was a very good performance for American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import Drew Viney (204-88, college: Loyola Mary) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Noriaki Douhara (178-89) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Nishinomiya S.Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Toyama Grouses keep a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Newly promoted Nishinomiya S. still closes the standings with three games lost. Toyama Grouses will face again Nishinomiya S. (#5) in Hyogo in the next round.
